Technique

Powder X-ray diffraction is the main technique for the characterization of pharmaceutical solids, either for formulation control, crystallinity or amorphous content measurements, desolvation or polymorphic transition monitoring, or raw material control.

Equipment

Holodiag owns a very versatile and high-performance system which can cover most of the analytical needs (PANalytical X'Pert Pro MPD equipped with a PIXcel detector). The different available setups allow a specific answer for a given problematic on a wide range of samples:

• low concentrations of API,
• wet powder,
• slurry / suspensions,
• tabs / pills,
• very low quantities, ...

Analyses can be carried out under controlled atmosphere, e.g. nitrogen flush to protect the sample or monitor dehydration (dry atmosphere). Air-sensitive samples are confined between polymer foils and their preparation can be achieved in a glove box. The integrated sample changer gives high-throughput capabilities to the system, whatever the work load.

Options

Moreover, our system enable temperature control and high scan rate analyses for the observation of fast phase transitions (polymorphism, desolvation, ...). Results can be correlated to additional thermal techniques (DSC, TGA).

We can perform the analyses with a high resolution and a high accuracy, and we can develop specific analytical programs to answer the most peculiar issues.
